After yesterday - today was good.
PT and OT went well.
He is getting around better - more, more under his own power. He still isn't 100% of course but continues to make progress.
They disconnected his IV so he doesn't have to drag a pole with him everywhere.
Santa came by today, not really a highlight for a 13 year -old - but we do have a picture with Santa!
He also seems to be getting some better rest.
I believe the thoughts and prayers are working.
Blessings to All,
rsc
p.s I forgot to mention that Sherry called the school today so Ms. Woods put Cooper on the intercom so he could say hi to the whole school. I am sure that was good medicine for everyone.

Cooper, it was so AWESOME that you called to talk to just ME today at school. Sorry about the rest of the school butting in on our conversation, but I don't mind sharing you.....
ReplyDeleteSeriously, it's funny that your dad mentioned Santa, because you know that awestruck, can't speak feeling you get when as a child you're about to see Santa? Well, when Mrs. Woods asked all of us to be very quiet because someone special wanted to talk to us, I had that same feeling of great anticipation I had as a child when I was about to come face to face with Santa. YOU WERE MY SANTA TODAY!!We weren't expecting it so it was such a great surprise. So while you weren't all that worked up about seeing Santa, you made all of us feel like a small child with wonder and amazement in our eyes (and ears!) when you said HI to everyone. (I was hoping to hear HOLA, but we can talk about that another time....) I had all 33 of the 8th graders with me (I was being punished....j/k 8th graders!) and everyone was so excited to hear your voice! Alex came up with something funny that he yelled at the intercom--I don't know if you could hear it--but he said, "Hey Cooper, hurry up and reCUPERate!" Certainly we all want that! Well, we worked on a special project during Spanish today for a special friend....When I told Mrs. Durbin I was going to take 8A and 8A TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME, she asked me if that was her Christmas present from me! After our time together, I've decided it's her Christmas present alright----for the next SIX YEARS!!!!!! AY, CARAMBA!
I will continue my prayers for you and add to it that you have safe travel!
It was great talking to your mom tonight. She said we should let you all get home, get settled in, get your tree up, enjoy some time together and find your old "normal", and then by Monday or so you all might be ready for your first visitor (that's me....). We will give you all that much needed time to collect yourselves and get back to your comfortable routine. So happy you're coming home! Thanks again for your phone call today!
Love,
Mrs. Black
